Finding The Perfect Smoke Spot For Weed

Okay, so I grew up pretty close to a sewage farm. I always say that because it makes my childhood sound super dramatic, like something out of an old book, but honestly, it wasn’t really like that. Still, there were these few hot summer days we absolutely dreaded. Maybe five days a year, the air would just be thick with… well, human waste. Gross, right? It usually happened on a Sunday. And seriously, no amount of barbecue smoke could hide that smell. Our best bet was to just stay indoors and load up on potpourri. It probably explains why house prices around there were a bit suspiciously low!

On those stinky days, I’d head straight for the river. The smell never seemed to stick around there, and the breeze was always so fresh. After crossing a few fields (keep an eye out for cow pies!) and ducking under some bridges (yep, watch out for needles), I’d find this super private bend in the river that snaked around (and sometimes flooded!) my town.

I’d just chill on a tiny pebble beach, watching the geese and ducks, basically waiting for someone to invent the smartphone already!

Getting high at home is awesome, but for me, the best joints are the ones you really earn. Salzburg was, hands down, the absolute winner. Imagine gorgeous alpine scenery, staring up at snowy mountains on a sunny day – just breathtaking! The city is full of awesome viewpoints, so hikers can find some of Europe’s best mountain vistas after a quick, steep climb. Once you’ve caught your breath, there’s really only one thing left to do: spark up and hum ‘The Sound of Music’ to yourself (but keep it down – the locals are fucking sick of it!).

Berlin, which I’m pretty sure is the best city in the world, has a ton of perfect smoking spots, both in and out of the city. My absolute favorite is the huge Treptower Park. It’s right by the river and home to the incredibly badass Soviet War Memorial – a giant statue of a guy holding a sword, carrying a child, and stomping on a swastika. Talk about epic! If you’re not really up for a big trek, another fantastic spot in Berlin was Tempelhofer Field. It’s an abandoned airport that’s been turned into a park, right in the heart of the city. Ever wondered what it’s like to smoke and run up and down an airport runway (and honestly, who hasn’t?), well, this is your place!

With everything going on lately (you know, the pandemic), I’ve really learned to appreciate my local green smoking spots – just simple city parks and those scrubland meadows that developers are always eyeing up. But seriously, I can’t wait to keep up my lifelong hunt for that ideal smoking spot. To be honest, I kinda hope I never actually find it, because I don’t want this awesome journey to ever end!
