Ever wondered if CBD could help with some serious health stuff? Well, get ready because I’m going to spill the beans on 7 conditions that CBD has actually been shown to help with in clinical trials! Folks have known about the awesome healing powers of cannabis, especially Cannabidiol (CBD), for ages. But then, back in the 1970s, the “war on drugs” made cannabis illegal. That meant people couldn’t really use this amazing plant for its healing benefits anymore, and it even became a crime! Slowly but surely, people started forgetting all about cannabis’s healing potential. Only a few special folks were allowed to use cannabis for things like glaucoma, and that was pretty much it for a long time. Now, let’s fast forward to today! We’ve thankfully taken another look at the whole cannabis ban, and now it’s legal across Canada and in most parts of the U.S. While THC (that’s Tetrahydrocannabinol) is still a bit of a hot topic in some states, most people can’t argue with how helpful CBD, the other amazing cannabinoid, can be!

Honestly, CBD has lent a hand with so many conditions. Below, I’m sharing 7 examples that CBD has actually been shown to help with in clinical trials:
1. CBD for Anxiety Relief (It’s a Big One!)
This is seriously one of the top reasons people reach for CBD. So many of us deal with anxiety every single day, trying to juggle everything life throws at us. That constant pressure can make us feel tense and worried… and for some, those feelings can get super intense, making it tough to even function or catch your breath (yep, we’re talking anxiety attacks). Good news! The stuff in CBD has been shown to help us chill out!
So, how does it work?
A lot of important things happening in your body are managed by something called the endocannabinoid system (ECS). This system basically keeps your body’s basic functions, like your mood and state of mind, in check. If you’re finding it tough to stay balanced on your own, the cannabinoids in CBD can step in and lend a hand.

Fun fact! Your body’s ECS is actually there and working even if you’ve never used cannabis before.
CBD can be a fantastic choice for calming anxiety because it really helps you find that balance, and often, you’ll start feeling the effects pretty quickly. Just last January, a clinical trial looked at 72 adults who were mainly dealing with anxiety.
“Anxiety scores decreased within the first month in 57 patients (79.2%) and remained decreased during the study duration.” – The Permanente Journal
2. Can’t Sleep? How CBD Might Help with Insomnia
Lots of folks are also having a tough time sleeping these days. You know how anxiety and insomnia often seem to go together? It’s really hard to quiet your mind enough to drift off. People dealing with insomnia don’t just struggle to fall asleep; they often have trouble staying asleep too. Guess what? There are tons of studies showing that CBD can actually help with insomnia! The Permanente Journal shared these findings:
“The study involved 72 subjects, with 47 experiencing anxiety and 25 experiencing poor sleep. The subjects were each given 25 milligrams (mg) of CBD in capsule form each day. In the first month, 79.2 percent of the patients reported lower anxiety levels and 66.7 percent reported better sleep.”

3. Feeling Down? CBD and Mood Regulation
Oh, depression. It can be so quiet and hidden from others, but it’s a super serious condition. It often comes in waves, and people dealing with it are often really good at hiding it. Their moods can be the only clue, swinging wildly in an instant! CBD seems to help with keeping moods balanced and, once again, calming the mind. If life feels overwhelming, we think CBD could really make a difference!
“CBD doesn’t necessarily boost serotonin levels, but it may affect how your brain’s chemical receptors respond to the serotonin that’s already in your system.” – Kimberly Holland
It’s tricky to say exactly what causes depression, but some experts have a theory called clinical endocannabinoid deficiency (CECD). Basically, it means your body might not have what it needs to keep things like your mood regulated on its own. We think trying CBD could help fill in any potential gaps. Instead of just reaching for medications, why not consider something natural and gentle for your body? CBD typically has way fewer side effects than many anti-depressants. Just remember to always chat with your doctor or a health expert before changing any medications you’re taking. Research on using CBD for depression is still in the early stages, but if you’re curious, here are some findings from animal tests done last February by the Mol Neurobiol.
4. Dealing with Chronic Pain? CBD Could Be Your Ally!
If you’re dealing with chronic pain, you know it means hurting all the time. If that sounds like you, maybe it’s time to try a natural option instead of just trying to numb the pain with painkillers. We feel pain when our body’s receptors send signals screaming to our brain: ‘HEY, I’M HURTING, DO SOMETHING!’ It’s really important not to only mask or numb the pain with meds. You want to actually work through it and help your body heal before things get worse. Pain signals pop up after an injury or trauma and can stick around in your nervous system if they’re not handled right.
How does it do that?
Like we talked about earlier, your body naturally makes its own endocannabinoids. These are like little messengers that connect with cannabinoid receptors in your nervous system. Your body has this amazing endocannabinoid system (ECS) that manages a bunch of things, including pain. If something’s off – maybe a deficiency or a blockage in the ECS – then your body won’t be able to work as it should. That’s where taking CBD can come in handy, because the cannabinoids in it help support your ECS.

5. Could CBD Help with Tumor Reduction?
When your body isn’t quite in balance, it can start fighting itself, leading to more serious health issues. Think of your body like a machine; if you don’t take good care of it, it’ll eventually break down and need “fixing.” Sometimes, tumors can pop up as your body’s way of showing physical pain. Of course, catching and removing tumors early is great, but wouldn’t it be even better to focus on good health and maintenance so you might avoid them altogether?
“There’s solid evidence supporting the idea that cannabinoids can reduce tumor growth in animal models of cancer.” – Ann Pietrangelo “Cannabinoids can help slow tumor growth, reduce tumor invasion, and induce tumor cell death.” – Ann Pietrangelo

6. CBD and Epilepsy: What the Studies Say
More and more clinical trials are looking at how CBD can help treat epilepsy in people of all ages. The strongest scientific proof we have is for CBD’s effectiveness in helping childhood epilepsy syndromes (such as Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome). These conditions often don’t respond very well to typical anti-seizure meds. But here’s the amazing part: in many studies, CBD was able to cut down the number of seizures, and sometimes, it even stopped them completely!

“A study gave 214 people with severe epilepsy 0.9-2.3 grams of CBD oil per pound (2-5 g/kg) of body weight. Their seizures reduced by a median of 36.5%” – National Center for Biotechnology Information

7. Could CBD Help in the Fight Against Cancer?
Yep, you heard that right! CBD might even help with something as serious as Cancer! You know that saying, “if you don’t take the time to work on your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness”? Well, I’m no wellness guru (yet!), but I’m learning new things every day, and that quote really hits home! When we don’t take care of our bodies, bottle up our feelings, or stop growing, other parts of us can start to struggle, and that’s when illnesses can show up.
Time for a Change?
That said, I also know cancer can appear out of nowhere, affecting even the healthiest people. It’s super important to focus on healing and make any changes that feel right for you. We really think adding CBD to your daily routine could be a big step. Clinical trials have actually shown that CBD has made a difference for cancer patients.
“Research suggests that cannabinoids may ease neuropathic pain and nausea. THC has shown to improve poor appetite due to cancer and cancer treatment, while CBD can suppress it. CBD is also thought to have anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety properties.” – Ann Pietrangelo “CBD may also enhance uptake or increase the potency of certain drugs used to treat cancer.” – Ann Pietrangelo
