5 Tips For Proper Dosing When Taking Edibles For The First Time
Taking edibles for the first time can feel a bit scary, right? Don’t worry, I’ve put together 5 simple tips to help you figure out the right amount to take. My hope is these tips will make you feel more comfortable and give you some good ideas for enjoying my favorite way to relax with cannabis.
Edibles Hit You Hard
You know how in the video we talked about edibles hitting you harder than smoking? Well, it’s true! For your very first time, it’s a super good idea to pick a day when you don’t have anything else planned. That way, you can just kick back and enjoy the whole experience without worrying about things you need to do later.
Start Small
Here’s a friendly reminder: you can always have a little more if you’re not feeling enough, but you can’t take back what you’ve already eaten! If you happen to take too much, you might ‘green out.’ If you’ve never heard that term, it’s kind of like when you drink too much alcohol. You could end up feeling sick, anxious, maybe even a bit paranoid. And honestly, you might even throw up. We definitely want to help you avoid that, so seriously, start with just a tiny bit. Be Patient
This is probably the biggest mistake people make with edibles: not waiting long enough! I’ve seen so many times when someone gets impatient, eats more, and then ends up greening out. The super important thing to remember with edibles is that they take a while to start working. It’s not like smoking, where you feel it right away. Oh, and if you’ve already eaten a meal, they might take even longer to kick in. Since there’s no exact time for them to hit, it’s a good idea to give yourself at least 1 to 2 hours to be safe.
Understand The Effects Of THC And CBD Content In EdiblesÂ
It’s good to know a little about THC and CBD in your edibles! If you find edibles that have an equal 1:1 ratio of CBD to THC, they can actually give you some really strong helpful effects. Plus, they tend to make you feel less ‘impaired’ compared to edibles that are just THC. When you add CBD to edibles, it can make the good stuff even better and help lessen any unwanted effects. So, CBD might help calm anxiety and ease pain, while also preventing things you don’t want, like a faster heart rate. If you’re a bit worried about feeling anxious, definitely think about trying edibles that have a nice balance of CBD and THC.
Take Edibles In A Comfortable Space
When you’re trying something new, making sure you’re super comfortable is always a smart move! I’d suggest getting some yummy snacks ready, picking out a show or movie beforehand, and snuggling up with some cozy blankets. Oh, and definitely keep plenty of water close by. For me, I love to enjoy edibles with my friends, maybe have a movie marathon, or play some fun games together.
